Cultivating Gratitude with Reiki Sound Meditation: A Science-Backed Practice

At Devotion Studio, gratitude is one of the most powerful elements we weave into our Reiki Sound Meditation sessions. More than a positive thought, gratitude is a practice with deep energetic significance in Reiki and has strong scientific evidence behind it.
A Core Principle of Reiki
One of the traditional Reiki precepts is: “Just for today, I will be grateful.”
Gratitude raises our energetic frequency and opens the heart, helping us receive and channel healing more clearly.
Gratitude in Reiki + Sound Meditation
Sound bowls, gongs, and vocal tones create a calm, receptive state through brainwave entrainment. When gratitude is introduced into that field through intention, reflection, or prayer, the vibration of appreciation is felt more deeply, often as warmth, openness, or emotional clarity.
Together, sound and gratitude help regulate the nervous system, foster presence, and create a “harmonic” emotional state. This is why many clients report that gratitude feels more embodied at Devotion Studio than in everyday life.
Sound has a way of “holding” vibration. When gratitude is spoken, felt, or meditated upon within our sessions, that feeling of appreciation is not only cultivated internally, it resonates externally in the space.
Why Gratitude Works: The Research
Peer-reviewed studies consistently show that gratitude supports mental, emotional, and even physical well-being:
A major review found that gratitude (both as a personality trait and a daily practice) is closely linked to higher life satisfaction, positive emotion, and reduced anxiety and depression to reliably improve mental health and increase positive emotions.
Gratitude isn't just good for the mind, it may benefit the body, too. A systematic review of 19 studies on gratitude interventions found that they may improve subjective sleep quality, and in some cases are associated with better blood pressure, glycemic control, and asthma symptoms.
Research also shows that practicing gratitude over time shifts our baseline mood, making emotional balance easier to access.
In short: gratitude changes both how we feel now and the emotional patterns we carry forward.
Why We Incorporate Gratitude at Devotion Studio
Gratitude shifts meditation from a moment of relaxation into a practice of inner expansion.
We give thanks to our planet Earth, our home, and the Cosmos, our planet’s home, during each session. To close the session, we give thanks for the energy we have received and thanks to ourselves for setting aside this special time.
Gratitude is part of every Reiki Sound Meditation because it aligns your energy with healing and supports lasting emotional resilience.
Experience how Reiki Sound Meditation can help you cultivate gratitude and improve your holistic health remotely, or in-person.
